Nothing less than 1200 is not recommended without the supervision of a physician ... and yes, it definitely brings you into starvation mode. 550 is ridiculous ... Your body can not properly functioning. If a diet that tells you to eat something, throw it out. Diets do not work long term anyway. Make a lifestyle change to eat healthy and exercise ... forever. Here's how to lose weight and keep it. Not a "diet".

I agree - 550 calories is ridiculous, it does not stop them all. I am very pleased the weight at 1650 calories to lose, just do not drastically reduce their consumption.

Try sparkpeople.com 's Global Change calorie counter - it's free and it helped me a lot.
